Homemade Lip Gloss Party Craft for Girls
My daughter recently celebrated her 11th birthday with a “Spa-sleepover” themed birthday party. I have been posting bits and pieces from the party on my crafty personal blog, like Turbie Twist head wrap cupcakes for all of the guests or homemade party lights for the perfect “sleepover” lighting.
The girls also did a number of spa-related craft projects at the party. One of them was homemade lip gloss. This simple craft was a perfect spa party activity. The recipe is really easy, that it was a perfect activity to make with a group of kids.
All you need is a jar of Vaseline and flavored, no-sugar added, Kool-Aid packets to make this cool craft. I used the 3.75 oz jar of Vaseline, and it was the perfect size to make 12 individual lip glosses, two per girl.
You will also need an empty container to put your lip gloss into. I found the perfect empty containers at Walmart in the travel section of the beauty aisle.
I gave each of the girls at the party two empty containers and two plastic cups, along with craft sticks, to mix their lip glosses in. Then, I let them each pick two different flavors of Kool-Aid.
I put the Vaseline into a microwave-safe bowl and microwaved in 1 minute intervals, stirring in between, until it was liquid form. Careful! The bowl and the Vaseline can get really hot. Make sure an adult takes care of the melting part!
Then I evenly divided the liquid Vaseline into separate cups, and let the girls add the Kool-Aid pack and mix together. They used about 1/2 envelope pack per lip gloss.
While mixing, it quickly turns back into gel form. Then the girls scooped the homemade flavored lip gloss into containers.
I put out small circle sticker labels on the table, along with decorative stickers and Sharpie markers to label and decorate their containers.
They were a huge party craft hit!
Now, my daughter carries her homemade lip gloss everywhere she goes. = )
Other ideas for flavoring your lip gloss, is to try cocoa for a chocolate flavored delight. Or try some vanilla extract.
Enjoy and happy crafting!

I would like to print it for Girl Scouts.. Is it okay?
Of course! Have fun!
I was just wondering if it stains their lips? Super cute idea I think I might try it with my girls.
Very neat idea, i am going to try it with my grandaugthers they will love it. Have a question, why cant you use sweetened kool-aid? wouldnt it make it taste better?
