Giveaway: Kellogg’s Tour of Gymnastics Champions at Honda Center
We here at When Girls Love Hockey love to celebrate female fans, not only of the great sport of hockey, but of sports in general. We also love when the spotlight shines on female athletes, and the spotlight never shines brighter than during the Olympic Games.
If your kids were anything like mine, the Summer Olympic Games in London was “must see tv” in our house every night for those two weeks in July and August. With daughters ages 9 and 6, this was the first Olympics that they were really engaged in the competition. And to no surprise to me, they connected most with the gold medal winning US Women’s Gymnastic Team.
For several nights, they watched Gabby Douglas, Aly Raisman, Jordyn Wieber, Kyla Ross and McKayla Maroney flip, vault, and fly all the way to gold. And when I explained that two of those five girls, Ross and Maroney, are from Orange County, my girls were even more wide-eyed.
Even after the Olympic flame had been extinguished, my daughters spent hours outside, pretending to be part of the “Fierce Five”, walking on pretend balance beams and doing somersaults on the grass. It was great to see them connect with the spirit of the Games and the celebration of US athletes.
If you and your family didn’t get your fill of watching gymnastics over the summer, then you won’t want to miss when the 2012 US Women’s Gymnastic Team brings their gold medal winning skill to Honda Center for the Kellogg’s Tour of Gymnastics Champions on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at 3:00pm.
The “Fierce Five” will be joined by 2008 Olympic all-around champion Nastia Liukin and her fellow 2008 Olympic team silver medalists Chellsie Memmel and Alicia Sacramone. Men’s Artistic Gymnastics will also be well represented by athletes such as 2012 US Men’s Gymnastic Team members John Orozco and Jonathan Horton. Visit here for a complete list of those athletes scheduled to participate and to purchase tickets.
Honda Center has been generous enough to allow me to offer our readers the chance to win a Family Four-Pack of tickets to Sunday’s show! Just leave a comment below. I will keep the contest open until 9:00pm PT Thursday, September 13, 2012. At that time, I will select one winner via random.org. Be sure that you can in fact attend the show on Sunday at 3:00pm and enter today!
Good luck and Go USA!

Our daughter, age 10, loved loved the Fierce Five! During the Olympics she tracked each girls performance writing their scores down. She downloaded two books and read all about them.
