Now that the weather is cooler, and Thanksgiving is just around the corner, I am really starting to feel the holiday spirit, and this is my favorite time of year!
One holiday tradition that I enjoy is the ballet production of The Nutcracker. I was excited to find out that a full-length professional production of The Nutcracker, directed by Festival Ballet Theatre’s Artistic Director, Salwa Rizkalla, will be performed at the Irvine Barclay Theatre next month!
This is a great family-friendly event, but since my girls are so little, it would make for a great date night or girl’s night out too!
For those of you who have never seen The Nutcracker, here is a little preview from a previous year.

The Festival Ballet Theatre is known for attracting the best performers in professional dance. This performance of The Nutcracker is highly anticipated and expected to be phenomenal. I look forward to seeing it myself and now one lucky reader can too!

Boy, this contest is perfect – My wife is the costumer for the ballet conservatory at one the local high schools. She’s totally a ballet lover and my daughter who is a senior in college has 15 years of dance. If we won the tickets, I’d have my wife and daughter attend the Nutcracker.

My wife is a former ballerina who has danced the lead role in the Nutcracker. For our one-year anniversary last month I took her to see Swan Lake at Segerstrom — my first ballet experience (unless you count “Black Swan”), the highlight of her year (probably more so than the marriage, actually), and with holiday gifts to buy, the end of our entertainment budget. I personally was able to see a Nutcracker ballet performance many many years ago when a previous employer of mine provided us with dinner and the show as a Christmas gift. I would like to win tickets for the nutcracker. My boys are familiar with the music from the nutcracker because of the cartoon Tom and Jerry where they had this episode but they never thought of the theme that came from the actual Nutcracker ballet. This will be educating for them.
