Family Entertainment: Ticket Giveaway for South Coast Rep’s Anastasia Krupnik!
One of my favorite Orange County theaters, South Coast Rep, has a fantastic Theater for Young Audiences program, that continually hits the mark with productions designed especially for children and their families. If you were delighted by last season’s performance of Junie B in Jingle Bells – Batman Smells, then your family will enjoy South Coast Repertory’s Theatre for Young Audiences performance of Anastasia Krupnik February 8th-24th.
SCR is partnering with Drama Momma to giveaway a family four-pack of tickets!
Ten-year-old Anastasia is opinionated, sassy and funny. Really funny. Of course, she also has a funny name, but she’ll make up for it in this offbeat story taken right from the pages of her diary. It’s about all the things she loves—and hates—and what she plans to do about them. This memorable story from the Newbery Medal-winning author of The Giver is a wonderful portrait of childhood and family life, complete with all its ups and downs.

One of my earliest memories of the theater was actually a production I was a part of – Phantom of the Opera (highschool edition)!
I have never been to the theater, this would be a treat
My school in 5th grade did Grease. I thought it was so fun. All the signing and dancing. Most of the cast was 8th graders. I remember wanting to one day be in a production. I never preformed on stage but I did help behind the scenes in High School.
I saw Sandy Duncan playing Peter Pan at the Pantages when I was 7 years old with my family, got all dressed up…and I was getting over (at the end and not contagious) chicken pox. I loved the show and have been trying to see live theater ever since
In Jr. High I went to New York at saw Into the Woods on Broadway, I’ve love the theater ever since then.
Nice thanks so much for offering a chance to win tickets, would love to check out the show with my family.
My mom took us to all the classics: Guys and Dolls, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, South Pacific, etc. I have a deep love of the theater and am finding that my children are enjoying the theater experience too.
I have always wanted to take my kids to the South Coast Rep kids programs! We would love tickets!
I saw the Nutcracker. A family friend was in the play and she brought me behind the stage. It was amazing! After all these years I still remember that day. I would love to create a similar experience for my daughter.
I recently volunteered and became a “Big Sister” to a little girl who comes from a challenged home and has never had the opportunity to see a show. My family doesn’t have much financially either, but I’d love to share the Anastasia Krupnik experience with them!
I have always wanted to take my kids to the South Coast Rep kids programs! We would love tickets!
When I was 5 or 6 years old I remember visiting a small playhouse that was going to be torn down. even though it was about 38 years ago I remember seeing back stage where the actors had writen their names on the wall.
I remember watching a play at our local school. I think it was around Christmas time. I would love to win this and see it with my daughter!
My favorite theater experience was seeing a musical with my parents called Annie Get Your Gun. Probably not a fan favorite today but my dad is from the midwest and he loves his western theme shows. I have 2 daughters and would love to take them to the show!
My love for llve theater began in my elementary school days when we would walk to the local high school to watch their productions.
I remember my family going to see Annie…I loved the music and was in awe of seeing a live performance. Afterwards, we got to talk to the performers and Daddy Warbucks had asked if I wanted to be Annie when I got older. I had never thought that I would get into performing, but it made me think about my dreams. I remember that interaction and how if I wanted to be anything then I could do it if I wanted to.
I saw the Nutcracker… it was magical! I loved everything about it!
My dad is a theater nut and turned me into one at an early age, but there is one particular show that stands out because it was the first time I felt like I was a kid that snuck into an adult world. I was about 11 and went to “A Chorus Line” with my dad at a big theater in LA. The show was quite adult in nature and even had salty language sprinkled throughout. But, WOW, what a show! The dancing, the music, the experience! I felt privileged and a little shocked to be let in on the adult entertainment, but it has been one of my favorite musicals ever since. Thanks Dad.
The first play I ever went to was Annie. I remember wearing a faux fur coat and flip fops and my mother was appalled and made me change. When the musical started, the character Annie did not have red curly hair and I didn’t understand why it wasn’t exactly like the movie version. But it wasn’t long before I was completely immersed in the story. It was truly exciting and I loved it!
One of the best theater experiences I had as a child was taking acting classes during the Summer at South Coast Rep when I was 10. It was a great learning experience and at the end of the session, I got to play one of the lead parts in The Phantom Tollbooth.
When I was around 8, my mom let me go with my older brother’s school group to see Annie at the Pantages Theater. I loved it!
