FRIDAY FUNNIES:”Mother’s Day”

Happy MAMAS Day!

We’re all busy, overworked and underpaid O-MAMAs, but the benefits are priceless! We have the most incredible job there is.

But…

One day a year, take a MOMent for yourself.  Sleep in…go for a walk ALONE…read a book…whatever your guilty pleasure, because every day we do our jobs.  Every day, we give so much of ourselves to our kids.

If celebrating Mother’s Day means being with your kids, great! If it means quiet solitude, super! Just take this day to bask in the beauty of motherhood and pat yourself on the back for all the important work you do every single day – let those you take care of pamper YOU a little.

Moms have the most important job in America – you are literally shaping the future of our country – so, on Mother’s Day celebrate your fabulousness. Great job MAMAs!

FRIDAY FUNNIES: “Erin Go Bra-less”

“Luck of the Irish!”

Top of the morning to you, O’mamas!

It’s almost St. Patrick’s Day, so invoke the leprechaun spirit and play a little hooky this weekend. A recharged and rejuvinated MAMA makes for a lucky MAMA.  Plus, it’ll give you some time to come up with all sorts of fun ideas of where to put the green food coloring.  In Chicago, they turn the river green.  In D.C., they turn the fountain in front of the White House green.  In our house, we turn the toilet water green!?!What do you do for fun in your house on St. Patrick’s Day?

We know your kids are your lucky charms, but take a MOMent to kick back and relax. You deserve it!

FRIDAY FUNNIES: “Valentine’s Day”

“Be Mine”

Happy day after Valentine’s Day MAMAs!  Cupid has a moving target when lovers become mothers…our hearts are full…it’s just that our heads are spinning. Which reminds us of a spin cycle, which reminds us of overflowing laundry…so guys, “you gotta give a little, to get a little.” That’s the key to a busy MAMA’s heart. We asked MAMAs what you really want for Valentine’s Day and you responded by “Redefining Romance.” So,if you need to make Valentine’s easy for your favorite fella, you can spell it out for him…R-O-M-A-N-C-E!Click to find out what our flirty mnemonic means, what our CELEBRITY MAMAS want for Valentine’s and what the Chicago Tribune had to say about you!

MAMAs – we hope you get lots of homemade Valentine’s, some help around the house…and hot sex!  (-:  Happy Valentine’s Day.

FRIDAY FUNNIES: “TOGETHER WE THRIVE”

“Proud to be an American”

Happy Friday MAMAS!

President Obama began his second term and we heard a lot of media spin about the Inaugural address.  Was it too left? Was it too right?  Who cares?  It wasn’t a political moment, it was a national moment.

It looked to us like everyone sat side by side and enjoyed the day.  No one at the event seemed to care about Michelle’s Obama’s bang-a-palooza, or about Beyonce’s beautiful Milli Vanilli moment.  In fact, all seemed more interested in the historical significance of the peaceful transition of power. Imagine that?

We need to remember the big picture.  We live in a great country. Not perfect, but the best imperfect nation on the planet.

Just like our kids. Nobody’s perfect, but they are the best imperfect people to us! We just keep going forward!

Happy weekend, MAMAs!

FRIDAY FUNNIES: “Speaker Of The House”

“Head of the House”

Happy Friday MAMAS!

We know that healthy relationships need balance – both at home and in Washington, D.C.  There needs to be give and take.  Sometimes we need to take the floor, and yes, other times we need to let someone else speak up.  All issues need to be discussed openly and honestly.  We expect all the members of our house to respectfully speak their minds, but be good listeners, too.

MAMAs keep things fair – everyone doing their part for the sake of our family. Our mommy governing skills work at home every day to solve real problems, let’s hope our elected officials can figure out how to govern our nation and get our House in order for the sake of our American family!  (-:

FRIDAY FUNNIES: “Happy New Year!”

Happy New Year MAMAs!

Nothing like a new year to put the past behind and look to the future.  Most of us look forward to the fresh start that comes at the stroke of midnight – a brand new year full of possibilities.  So much promise wrapped up in one MOMent.

As moms, we know it is really about all the delicious little MOMents throughout the year.  We always have a lot on our plates, so maybe “don’t bite off more than we can chew” should be our party line this year?  In 2011, set realistic expectations.

Let’s give ourselves a break from outlandish resolutions and just keep it real and do what we can do – throw out the granny panties, count left-overs as making dinner, don’t scream at the kids every day. Let’s cut ourselves some slack this year and just resolve to do the best we can for our families and ourselves.

In our weekly opinion poll, more than half of you said you wanted to be the best mom and “the best you that you can”…that’s a lot.  So, let that be enough MAMAS.

Starting fresh is something we all can revel in at midnight (yes – if you are on the West Coast, New York New Years counts!)…so, share a toast with family & friends to ring in the new year and remember to take it day by day!

Wishing you all a very happy, healthy 2012!

FRIDAY FUNNIES: “Santa Is Coming To Town”

“Santa Is Coming To Town”

Happy Friday MAMAs!

Santa is making his final preparations and so are we, MAMAs! It’s a busy time of year and our lists might seem huge, but some how, some way MAMAs always make it happen!  And, if there are a few things that don’t get checked off…no matter…our KID-Os don’t have to get every single thing on their list.  They’ll be o.k.  Instill in them the true meaning of Christmas and the spirit of giving, not just receiving.  Stay checked-in with family and friends and keep a happy, hopeful outlook this time of year.  ‘Tis the season, after all!

Please share your holiday traditions, and if you are in a snarky mood this week, check out our “Has Santa Been Jingling His Bells” opinion on who’s been NAUGHTY and the “Fantasy on NICE” article that quotes Opinionated MAMAs in the Chicago Tribune, because let’s face it, sometimes we have to fake it.

Happy Holidays, MAMAs!

FRIDAY FUNNIES: “Be Prepared”

“Expect the unexpected”

MAMAs are never without our special, seemingly bottomless “backpack” (designer or not) loaded with everything from retainers to undies, sippy cups to snacks.

But, even we can get thrown for a loop, especially when Mother Nature decides to exert her power.  We know we can’t fool that MAMA, especially when she is all whipped up!?!  So, the lesson learned is that we need to prepare our families for hurricanes, tsunami, fire, flood, tornado, quake…whatever the “zone” we live in requires.  Are you prepared?

MAMA’s are good at taking care of the little emergencies, but let’s not forget to prepare for the big ones, too!  Be safe MAMAS!!!

Change begins at home.™

FRIDAY FUNNIES: “Attention Grabbers”

“Attention Grabbers”
Happy Friday MAMAs!
Our kids are back to school after spending the summer with our undivided attention (sorta).   Just when it seems like we’re gonna get a MOMent to ourselves…boom…election time!  Now it’s the politicians clamoring for our attention and our vote.
When our KID-Os want us, they whine, stand on their head, hop on one foot, make lots of noise, throw spit wads and generally act up…they pull out all of the stops!  We see the same behavior in our politicians – doing whatever they need to do to get our attention.  It might be entertaining for a MOMent, but if we give politicians the attention they want for all the outrageous things they say and do, they will continue giving us non-sense.  Let’s reward the politicos that tell the truth and are willing to work to solve the problems our country and our families face.
Just like with our kids, we should not reinforce bad behavior  - we need to reward the good behavior.  In our great democracy, our vote is our voice – make sure yours is heard MAMAS!
