Blind Students Become Top Chefs For A Day

Students From Blind Children’s Learning Center Become Top Chefs For A Day! Prego Ristorante Executive Chef Ugo Allesina Gives 18 Visually Impaired Students the Opportunity to Make Their Own Pizzas on Wednesday, April 17th at 10:30am.

The visually impaired Pre-K and Kingergarten students, ranging in age from 4 to 6 years old, will receive their own toques, or chef’s hats, and create their own authentic pizzas, which will be baked in Prego’s wood-fired ovens and packed for each child to take home to their families. Prego Owners Tony and Ruth Bedi will host the students in a lunch prepared by Chef Allesina after their pizza-making activity is complete.

Students at the Blind Children’s Learning Center in Santa Ana have been learning about healthy eating, and tactile activities such as this are necessary for their development. This event furthers the mission of the Blind Children’s Learning Center to “provide early intervention, education and services for blind, visually impaired or deaf-blind children and their families to empower independence.”

The community is invited to come see this special event at Prego Ristorante at 18420 Von Karman Avenue in Irvine.
